Neutra Furniture Collection by VS impresses
When the “imm cologne” trade fair closed its doors on Sunday 19 January for 2014 after six exciting days, the exhibitors on the VS Stand in Hall 3.2 were able to draw a particularly positive conclusion from their presence at the event. For the first time designs of the architect Richard J. Neutra (1892-1970) were presented by VS at the world’s leading furnishing and interiors trade fair in Cologne/Germany. A bold undertaking that met with a significant, positive response from visitors, conspicuous interest from the press, and a heap of praise from the trade professionals.
It was a genuine premiere: over an area of 150 m² VS exhibited the “Neutra Furniture Collection by VS” to the roughly 120,000 imm visitors in the invitingly cosy ambience of its trade-fair stand. In combination with warm wooden floors, bright colors, high-quality fabrics and carpets and the installation of a fireplace, the particularities and the beauty of Neutra’s stylish furniture designs were shown off to particularly good effect.
With his well-lit houses the architect Richard J. Neutra shaped the image of Californian modernism and the “International Style”. With works concentrated in California, Neutra designed villas, schools, office blocks and housing developments which, with all their differences, always exhibited a common motif: the integration of Man and building in nature, the opening and connection between interior and exterior. The full-on preoccupation with the interior furnishings of the buildings can also be seen in this integrated approach.
VS has since 2012 held the exclusive rights to the Neutra furniture. The designs, which appeared as individual pieces and small production runs for the villas and developments of his clients in California or only existed as drawings, have been researched and documented by VS down to the finest detail. The result is an exclusive manufactured collection which drew many admiring glances at this year’s imm.
Thank you for visiting our stand at imm cologne 2014. We look forward to seeing you again soon!
